Here are pictures of my get together with my family. The theme was "The Big Apple", since that's one of New York's nicknames! It was so fun! At the end of these pictures I'm posting the scriptures and poem that I shared in my talk. Hope some of you enjoy them!
Doctrine & Covenants 11: 20-21
Behold, this is your work, to keep my commandments, yea, with all your might, mind and strength. Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word, and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my Spirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men.
1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you.
He's Been There Before (This is just the last few paragraphs of the poem)
My prayer now finished, I stand up and jump into bed.
I need my rest, for we have another big day ahead.
Sleep starts to over take me; I start to drift away.
Then it seems a dream takes me to time in another day.
Sleep starts to over take me; I start to drift away.
Then it seems a dream takes me to time in another day.
I’m standing alone on a hill; the view is very nice.
A man walks toward me and says, “My name is Jesus Christ.”
A man walks toward me and says, “My name is Jesus Christ.”
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet.
“Arise” He says, “we need to speak.”
“Arise” He says, “we need to speak.”
My attention is towards my Savior, total and complete.
He says, “Your mission is similar to what happened to me."
He says, “Your mission is similar to what happened to me."
"I understand how you feel; I know what you’re going through.
It would be fair to say I’ve felt the same as you. “
It would be fair to say I’ve felt the same as you. “
“Working hard and sweating can be something to hate.
I sweat blood from every pore, oh the agony was great.
I sweat blood from every pore, oh the agony was great.
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack;
The cross was also heavy when they slapped it on my back.”
The cross was also heavy when they slapped it on my back.”
“Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking all day.
When they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way.
When they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way.
“We have a lot in common between us you see.
I endured to the end… so follow and do like me.”
