New York has been awesome! When we flew in, we saw that the field was definitely "white already to harvest" because of all the snow ;) My new companion is Sister Blackburn! We get along SO well! We are already close, and teach pretty well together!
Right now I'm not actually in New York. I'm on the boarder of New York and Vermont, in a town called Bennington. I love it here! I mean of course it's a little gloomy because of winter, but it's still great and pretty. there are old fashioned house EVERYWHERE. Every single house is unique, old fashioned, and intricate. All the stores and restaurants are old fashioned too :) They're beautiful, and I'm seriously in heaven!!! I can't wait to see this place during the spring and fall!
I'm starting to learn a lot from Sister Blackburn. She has been patient with me, which is awesome! We have to eat out quite a bit. I'm not a huge fan of that, but we don't have much time to do anything else. We're going grocery shopping today though, so I'm excited to get some real food haha. Each night we say to ourselves, "Have we earned our pillows tonight?" That always motivates us!
We have been traveling a ton because some of our district/zone meetings are 2 or 3 hours away from where we live, so we haven't been tracting and working as much as I'd like :( Hopefully this week we'll be able to though :) In one of our meetings, Elder Bednar came and spoke to us. It was awesome! I GOT TO SHAKE HIS HAND!!! :)
People up here are sometimes crazy haha... I mean that literally. They aren't like maniacs or anything, but there is something in their heads that just doesn't work right, and they act strange sometimes. My first discussion was a little interesting for that reason haha. It was this black lady and her son. They just yelled a lot at each other and were kind of blunt and mean to me... but it was a good learning experience!
Most people are friendly and nice though, especially the members. Our ward here is really small, only about 50 people. So we go to the same families a lot for dinner, but they're nice and willing to feed us :) One of the first nights I was here, a member family had a "green" dinner for me since I'm a greenie :) It was so nice of them!
I'm having a great time and loving the work. I'm constantly tired haha, but it's worth it! I hope that everyone is well and happy :)
